Essex’s Daryl Selby today equalled his best ever world ranking when he climbed to ninth in the PSA Tour’s October list.
The Chelmsford-based 31-year-old, who rises one place, last achieved that berth four years ago, occupying it from April to September 2010.
Yorkshire’s James Willstrop also climbs one slot, to sixth, after his win in the inaugural China Open in September, which will be a comfort to the 31-year-old as he recovers from a hip operation.
However, world champion Nick Matthew, who has not played on the Tour since the Allam British Open in May, drops one spot to third.
The 34-year-old double Commonwealth singles gold medallist swaps places with Egypt’s Mohamed Elshorbagy, who rises to a career-high world no.2 – behind France’s Greg Gaultier – after winning his last three tournaments.
Essex’s Peter Barker completes the English quartet in the world’s top 10 in eighth spot. Chelmsford’s Ben Coleman is ranked 74 and Richie Fallows 100th.
Meanwhile, the WSA Rankings see Middlesex’s Alison Waters slip one place to seventh, but Cheshire’s Sarah Kippax rises one to 18th.
Lancashire’s Laura Massaro retains the world no.2 ranking behind long-time leader Nicol David.
