LAVENDER ENJOYS SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS

PHIL LAVENDER got his hands on the main prize after a high-absobing handicap tournament at Connaught on Sunday.

The event, run by Connaught squash guru Dave Webster, attracted an impressive field of talent including the Lemom siblings, Sophie and Alex, Jason Friend and top county junior Elise Lazarus,

A week ago, Elise captured the England national mixed doubles racketball title at Connaught with Jack Jago, so she obviously likes the courts.

That was evident as she made her way through the final where she faced the experienced Lavender. Age and experience won the day as Phil just edged their showdown to collect the silverware from Dave Webster.

Phil said afterwards: “It was a great event with plenty of decent players. Elise hasn’t been playing too much competitive squash recently so that probably gave me the edge in the final. Thanks to Dave Webster for running such a fun event.”
