LARA NEWTON AWARDED SCHOOL’S SQUASH TROPHY

by | Jul 27, 2016

WELL DONE to Lara Newton who has been presented with the Top Achievement award for squash at Mersea Primary School.
Lara is part of a thriving group of young squash players from Mersea who are becoming a real force to reckon with as the sport enjoys a resurgence in the area thanks to some great coaches, including Lara’s mum Sally Meanley.
Lara also trains at the Off The Wall Squash Academy at the Colchester Garrison and back in April captured her first Bronze event title when she won the U-11 event at Moreton Hall in Bury St Edmunds.

She has also been a great competitor in the Essex Junior Squash Grand Prix Series where she finished second in the Year 6 and under event after seven intense months of competition.

It was those efforts that persuaded Mersea Primary School to award Lara her impressive silver trophy last week.
Last year’s winner was another OTWS player, Olivia Broderick. Her squash is going from strength to strength and we are confident Lara will follow the same progressive path.
Well done Lara. We are all proud of you.
