The annual Essex Junior Squash vs Lloyds of London Squash challenge produced another cracking match on Monday evening at the Reuters Building on East London’s Isle of Dogs.
Nine players from both teams went head to head in a thrilling encounter with the Essex team of seven junior girls, one senior county woman player, Sarah Neller, and Essex Junior Closed under-19 champ Harry Kitchens doing battle for the county.
In a gripping encounter, the honours finally went to the experienced Lloyds Squash team who edged the evening 20 games to 16.
There were some incredibly close tussle with every match-up decided by the narrowest of margins.
A huge thank you to everyone involved especially Essex Junior Squash secretary David Harris for organising the courts and running the event, chairman Matthew White for the post-match drinkies and all the players and parents for backing such a successful evening.
Thanks too to the good people of London insurance company Miles Smith Insurance Group for supporting Essex Junior Squash for the past two years. We have achieved some remarkable milestones with their financial support for which we are eternally grateful.
The Essex team was: Lara Newton, Eleanor White, Ellie Hewes, Elli Barrott, India Webb, Amy Aspinall, Piper Tatum, Sarah Neller and Harry Kitchens.
As part of the Lloyds of London team, Ariel Reid (pictured above and below) competed against the Essex Juniors. Seeming to have really committed to the community in the past year having competed in races and helping out at other events, Ariel Reid has gracefully embraced city life.
