Last weekend the 2018/19 Miles Smith Essex Junior Squash Grand Prix series moved to Lexden Rackets and Fitness Club for round 4 of 8.
43 players entered our fourth Grand Prix of the season. Another eight debutants to the series proves the format of our event goes from strength to strength as we continue to provide individual competition as close to the format of England squash events within the county.
GRACE WOODHEAD
In the girls year 4 & under Grace Woodhead took the honours again while in the girls’ Year Six and under current series leader Isabella Johns reasserted her dominance on the group by taking the win. Second was Rebecca Salmon and Grace Boore third.
The girls’ Year 8 Group B proved to be a very competitive affair as always with Eleonore Dewey taking top spot from Eliza Hancock second and the ever improving Prabhneek Atwal taking 3rd.
In the boys’ Year 4 and Under, six players battled for supremacy with Matthew Sutton continuing his dominance of the group by taking first place. The weekend saw a family 1st and 2nd with Matthew’s brother Tristan finishing second and the ever improving Jamie Banhidai taking third.
Boys year 6 & under group saw two groups playing with Group A being dominated by Louis Brown continuing where he left off after GP3, with Dylan Smithson taking his best finish to date in second. Third place went to debutant Freddy Welsford-Knightley. Group B was won by Daniel Gladwell playing only his second GP with Oliver Mayhew-Gay second and Edward Wilson third.
Boys Year 8 and under featured the largest number of entrants again. In Group A, Arjan Kingra took his first win on the season with Luke Weaver second and Matthew Salmon third. In Group B, Oren Goddard proved his love of the courts at Lexden following up his GP2 win with a second here at GP4. Debutant Luke Sargood took second place from Thomas Owen in third.
In the boy’s year 10 group, another hard fought group saw series leader Archie Hassett take another group win with Lexden’s Trystan Fleming second and Year 10 debutant Joe Ludlow-Gibbon third.
