Essex celebrate another Harrow Cup victory

by | Jul 6, 2016

Essex retained the Eastern Cup, sponsored by Harrow, at Ipswich Sports Centre on Saturday after a day of fabulous and competitive squash of the highest calibre.
Organised by the Off The Wall Squash team from Colchester, the four-county event saw Essex field two separate teams in every age group, such is our strength in depth of numbers. A superb testimony to the county’s thriving junior programme, the commitment of our young players and the support of all the parents.
The Essex teams finished first and second in the table, although only the first position officially counted. Rules state each county field one team in the official event although they allow further teams to compete to bolster the event and gain experience.

Essex coach Lauren Selby was full of praise for the players who wore their county colours with pride. “Essex has a great record in the Eastern Cup sponsored by Harrow and all our players stepped up to the mark on Saturday, ” said Lauren.

“I am delighted with the win but even more thrilled that we were able to field two teams in every age group. It’s a great marker to how we are improving and progressing. It’s a great tournament and I’d like to thank Harrow for their continued support. Thanks also to Ipswich Sports Club for hosting the event.”
