Epping hosts England Squash programme to find new leaders

by | Dec 11, 2015

EPPING was the venue for a pilot England Squash programme designed to recruit new squash leaders at leisure centres around the country with the aim of increasing participation in the sport.

Over 40 new Squash Leaders  took part part of the Public Facility Workforce programme at four different venues: Epping Sports Centre, Olympian Leisure Centre, Didcot Leisure Centre and Polyzath Leisure Centre.

The aim of the sessions was to provide training to public facility staff on how to increase squash participation in their leisure centres by increasing knowledge, understanding and enthusiasm for the sport. In addition to this, staff have been educated on how to increase revenue through squash.

The new Squash Leaders have been challenged to organise and deliver fun informal play sessions in January with support from their England Squash Participation Manager. In addition they have been tasked with offering a new competitive squash opportunity. To help them with this, the squash leaders have been provided with online tools to administer box leagues and tournaments, as well as information on our new innovative participation programme

England Squash will also be offering ongoing support to a number of leaders who have expressed a desire to now become a Level 1 squash coach.

If you would like some more information on how to set up some public facility training, contact our England Squash regional Participation Manager Natalie Davis at Natalie.Davis@englandsquash.com
