Who has impressed the coaches this month??
The Off The Wall Squash Player of the month for June was a stand out candidate. Emma Bartley, who is aged 10, has been a member of the academy at the Garrison since they started in September. Lauren Selby has had the pleasure of coaching Emma since she was 6 and the family have made huge sacrifices to travel the distance from Bury St Edmunds to their sessions.
At the beginning of June Emma competed in the U11 National Championships in Sheffield. In 2014 Emma lost in the final so this year she was hoping to do one better. She cruised through the first rounds very convincingly. In the semi-final she beat Layla Johnson 3-1 and in the final she played another Yorkshire girl, Asia Harris.
Emma kept her cool and played some fantastic squash. A 3-0 victory secured the title of National Champion, a title which she very much deserves. Emma is a model player at our squads. She always gives 100%, listens intently, tries to apply any advice given and plays with a smile on her face! Well done Emma for all you have achieved and for becoming the English U11 Champion!
All the coaches and staff at Off The Wall are very proud to have Emma as a member, here’s to many more future successes for her in our beautiful game.
We hope to see more Academy members striving to become our next winner of this accolade…who will be the next winner for July??
