Essex’s Peter Barker will attempt to win his first PSA Tour title of 2015 this week in the $50,000 Colombian Open in Bogota.
The world no.7 is the second favourite behind home hope Miguel Angel Rodriguez, a three-time winner of the PSA M50 tournament.
The 31-year-old left-hander, who defeated Rodriguez in the final of the last event he won – the Bluenose Classic in Canada last November, is up against Hong Kong qualifier Tsz Fung Yip for a place in the quarter-final.
Barker is seeded to meet seventh-seeded Mexican Cesar Salazar in the last eight and world no.12 Borja Golan, of Spain, in the semi-finals.
