Grace Woodhead, aged just 7 and in year 2, broke yet another record at Mersea School this week when she became the youngest child to win the Mersea Island School squash achievement trophy in its fifth year in circulation, taking control of the trophy from her older brother who won it last year.
Grace began watching squash when her brother George had his weekly squad and private sessions. By the time Grace decided she might like to pick up a racket, tactics and shot options seemed to be ingrained in Grace.
The following sheet (read out in her school assembly) shows just what she has achieved this year. Her resilience and tenacity against much older players is a joy to watch.
