ESSEX fielded four teams at the recent Inter-County Finals marking another tremendous year for the county’s junior squash players.
The main event – the National Finals – were held at Pontefract in Yorkshire and saw our Under-13 girls in action alongside the Essex Under-17’s team.
Elsewhere, the Essex Under-13’s ‘B’ team and our Under-15 girls had made it through to the national Trophy Finals which feature as the Plate events.
Our county coaches were out in force giving the teams full support at what have become the showpiece events in the junior calendar.
Head Essex coach Lauren Selby was full of praise for the players who carried the Essex colours with pride.
“To have four girls’ teams reach the National Finals was a tremendous feather in the cap for Essex Squash,” said Lauren. “We are continuing to grow as a county and the quality of our players is on a constant up-curve. I was so proud of our teams. They played and behaved in an outstanding manner. It really is an honour to work alongside so many committed young players, parents and coaches.”
