Five players will be wearing the colours of Essex at this weekend’s England Under-11 Championships at the Hallamshire Squash Club in Yorkshire.
County coach Dave Webster will be travelling with the quintet for the two-day event which today released the event draw.
Essex’s highest ranked under-11 player Yusuf Sheikh has a first-round bye but his Connaught team-mates Josh Stephens and Caleb Belcher will both be in action from the start. Josh faces James Campbell-Wynter from Dorset in a 9-16 face-off while Caleb is ranked 17-32 and plays Lincolnshire’s Louie Truman.
Woodford Wells provides the remaining two Essex players. Daniel Caton (17/32) (pictured above) will open his account against Eden Spooner of Cambridgeshire while Brooke Smith, our lone entrant in the girls’ event, will start he campaign against Jessica Weatherspoon of Durham.
