Last weekend, Piper Rose Tatum, who started the day seeded 3 / 4, picked up her second trophy in consecutive weekends after reaching the final of the Girls’ U15 at the Winchester Junior Open.
Having received a bye in the first round, Piper then made an impressive start in the quarter final beating 5 / 8 seed Rebecca Heaslewood 2/0.
In the semi final she faced number 2 seed Maia Panell but again, Piper showed her usual calm composure to take this match 2/0.
The final was against number 1 seed Brooke Williams and despite some battling squash, Piper went down 9/11 6/11.
This was Piper’s second final in two weeks following her GU15 runners-up finish at the Redbridge Junior Open the previous weekend.
Piper’s growing reputation is starting to make headlines in Essex and we hope she continues to grow and develop as a good representative for Essex Squash.
