HEWES A CLEVER GIRL: Ellie was 2nd

Alice Green from Club Kingswood totally dominated the U-15 girls’ event powering to the winner’s rostrum without dropping a single game. Her 3-0 final win over Oxfordshire’s Eve Coxon reflecting her hold on the tournament.

Colchester’s Ellie Hewes was impressive as she made her way through the early rounds of the Under-13’s. Her temperament was solid and court-craft sound, all boding well for the future. And her second place finish to Torrie Malik a deserved reward for a good weekend’s work.

Ollie Green’s weekend was rewarded by a third place finish in the Under-13’s while Aaron Allpress performed superbly in a tough U-17 field. Tom Bird received praise for his squash and his refereeing, controlling a difficult match involving Ollie that drew far too much input from on-lookers who should know better. Tom’s handling of a tough situation could not have been better showing a level of maturity sadly lacking from many around the court.

Other Essex results:

U-13’s: Joel Braddock 11th, Travis Tatum 19th.

U-17: Joe Blackmur 14th, Conor Adams 21st, Haydon Smith 25th, Tom Bird 27th.
