Mersea School Squash Awards
Isla King received the 2025 Mersea School squash achievement award. Isla is the first girl to EVER beat every other player in her class during PE lessons which is a huge feat. She shows huge natural talent and has the ability to go far if she so chooses. Isla is very competitive, and this makes her hard to beat.
This year’s emerging girl talent goes to Molly Deeks – Molly is a true fighter in the sports sense. She gets stuck in against whoever she plays, adult, child, girl or boy. She listens to technical advice and then tries to implement it when appropriate. Her game has gone from strength to strength and at her first tournament she came Runner up in a group of 7 children. Molly is true emerging talent.
This year’s emerging boy talent goes to Blake Marchant – Blake has a natural aptitude for squash. He listens intently to directions and uses the information to further his game. He is brilliant at taking a loss as a challenge, as an indication of what he needs to work on rather than a failure, and because of this he improves time after time at competition and in training. Blake has placed well now in three competitions and is hot favourite in his next event.
