Did you ever play in the Essex Junior Closed and if so, what was your best result? | Played every year since 2016 and won it in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023 |
Did you ever play in any inter county teams, if so, what was your best memory? | Played for Essex since U13, best memory is probably the Inter-county friendlies I used to play in U13 because everyone was new to me and so I gained so much experience. |
Who is your favourite player to play? | Bailey Malik |
Who is your nemesis? | Alex Broadbridge |
What skill would you want from someone else? | I would take the patience of anyone who loves straight drives |
Favourite pre match scran (food)? | I usually eat bananas during a tournament but not when they’re squishy and black! |
Top tip for future players | Find a group of players whose company you enjoy and are similar standard to you, then play as much as possible with all of them. You’ll have great fun whilst improving. |
What skill are you working on most this year? | My volley drops, I have the shot but nowhere near the consistency needed to beat top pros |
How do you prepare for a match? | Probably not ideally! Most of my warmup consists of mental preparation, as I believe that after the first few rallies you warm up anyways. I put some music on and go for a jog around the venue and imagine myself beating my opponent. |
Who coaches you now? | Lee Jemmett down at Connaught |
When you are not playing squash, what do you like to do? | I listen to loads of music, I also love photography, so I bring my camera everywhere I go and try to capture some shots! |
If you didn’t play squash, what other sport do you think you may have taken up? | I’m also a decent tennis player- so it would have to be that. You can’t beat tennis in the summer on a nice day- although in the winter it can be rather gusty and wet. |
